Beaconia Beach

2005 Photo Gallery, 2006 Photo Gallery, 2007 Photo Gallery or 2008 Photo Gallery - pictures I’ve taken on Beaconia Beach. I’m always looking for more so I’d welcome other contributions if you’d like to share.

Directions
The beach is located approximately 45 minutes north of Winnipeg. Proceed north on Highway 59 on the way to Grand Beach. About 7 kilometers past the Brokenhead Reserve and the South Beach Casino, turn left down provincial road 500 at the Beaconia turnoff. There’s a sign clearly identifying the turnoff for Beaconia so you can’t miss it.

Continue straight down the road for about 2 kilometers. The road will eventually curve to the right towards Grand Marais but keep going straight down the gravel road. This is the causeway into Beaconia Beach. Some sections of the road can be VERY rough with large rocks so if you’re just in a passenger car you may want to take it easy. Another option is leave your car on the side of the road and hike in for a little extra exercise. However you get there, eventually you’ll come to a large open area which is the parking lot. There are several paths through the trees that will take you to the beach. You’ll have to hike south about 800 meters until you get to the start of the clothing optional area. The beach is a bit rocky so make sure you’ve got decent footwear. There’s a fallen tree with a “NUDE BEACH” sign painted on it that acts as a warning sign / barrier. Now’s your chance to get naked.

There’s a very long stretch of beach area so finding a spot shouldn’t be a problem. If you’re looking for a place to go for a nice long walk, this is the spot. If you’re looking for a bit of privacy, you’ll find plenty of spots back in amongst the trees .
