Well here we are in early October and it’s the end of another beach season. It was a fairly long one too with my last visit being just 2 weeks ago and my first this year coming in mid May. Plenty of hot days and not a lot of rain to contend with. An added bonus was the bugs weren’t too bad either.
Admittedly I’m a little uncomfortable with having that word “naturist” at the top of the page as I don’t know that I truly fit into the definition, at least in the traditional sense perhaps. I love being naked on a beach but it still doesn’t extend very far beyond that. So I can’t see myself taking up nude bowling any time soon.
As expected, I didn’t bother rejoining the local clothing optional club. I did contact the new owners in the spring to see what their rates and plans were for the upcoming season. The end result was that the cost just wouldn’t make it worthwhile for what I was going to get out of it so I didn’t bother. It’ll be interesting to see if they manage to make a go of it, the membership is getting old(er) and I know they lost several people during the ownership transition. I better clarify that a bit, they didn’t bother rejoining. Not surprisingly, they seem to be faced with a lot of the same challenges that most clubs are facing, declining enrollment and an aging membership. Tough getting younger people interested in something like that and things like rising gas prices don’t make it that much easier.
My Christmas present to myself last year was a new camera and I put it to good use this year although it’s still a bit of a pain in the ass working with a timer and tripod. I did score some pretty nice shots though some nice sunset ones in particular. One of my winter projects will be to sort through them all and update the Website.
I saw my first couple having sex on the beach. No big deal, I kept walking and let them have their fun.
Being able to walk barefoot and naked on a beach is very cool, definitely a great feeling to experience. I think one of my favorite moments of the summer was a Thursday afternoon in early September. The day had turned cloudy and in the late afternoon everybody else had left and I literally had all of Patricia Beach to myself. So of course the thing to do in a situation like that is go for a naked stroll just to say you’ve done it. So down and back I went but I must say it’s a little hard on the feet. Very cool though and a neat way to say goodbye to summer.
So that’s it for another year. The chair and the sunblock are all put away until next spring. The leaves are changing color, the geese are noisily flying overhead on their way south, and it’s starting to get too chilly for you to want to be outside. Another summer’s disappearing in the rearview mirror. Let the cycle begin once again.
